Welcoming Our Newest Little Team Member, Leah!

There’s always something fun and exciting going on here at The Marketing Girl and in the life of entrepreneurship, but these past few months have seen the onboarding of a new team member that we’re particularly thrilled about: we’re proud to introduce Leah, the youngest (and cutest!) addition to our team! It might be a while until we have her working on any big projects – there’s still a lot of paperwork to sort through, and we have to get that whole potty-training thing locked down first – but once we’ve got that dealt with, we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table during strategy meetings!

All kidding aside, we couldn’t be happier to welcome Leah into our family and to introduce her to everyone. Since she was born on June 18th, life has completely changed once again – and entirely for the better. We thought we’d be expertly equipped to deal with the profound emotions that would accompany this change, having gone through this once before when Lucas came into our lives, but there’s really nothing that can prepare you for the incredible happiness and immense responsibility that goes hand-in-hand with bringing a new life into the world. Nothing comes close – being a parent (even for the second time) is a singular experience and one that changes the way you view and understand the world.

The Important Things in Life and Entrepreneurship
Leah has only been in our lives for a few short months, but during that brief spell, I really do feel as though my outlook on life has changed – or, at the very least, has been brought into a sharper focus. We’ve spent the last few months since Leah’s birth bonding as a family, traveling the country, and simply being together. This time has given me the opportunity to reconnect with my husband and kids, rejuvenate my creative energies, and reflect on where The Marketing Girl has been – and where we’re going.

I’ve realized just how happy I am to be in a position where I’m able to achieve such a healthy work-life balance. None of this happened overnight, of course. I’ve spent years of time and hard work building my business and The Marketing Girl team to get to the point I’m at now – but these past few months have done a great job of reminding me why I started The Marketing Girl in the first place, and what’s important in life. I originally started The Marketing Girl to help people – to help clients grow their businesses, to help colleagues find their own successes, and to help contractors gain experience and discover their own passion for marketing – and I really feel that the direction I’ve taken my business over the past several years has accomplished all this, and then some. I’ve always loved what I do, but I’ve developed a further appreciation this summer for my work and the company I’ve built: they have afforded me the opportunity to spend precious time with my loved ones, bonding and growing as we traveled the Canadian countryside together.

It’s All About Balance
These recent months have reminded me of the importance of family, and how essential that work-life balance is to my happiness, and my business. Further, they have reinvigorated me to continue on with the great work that we do here at The Marketing Girl, in the hopes that the services we provide will help our clients find the time to establish their own perfect equilibrium, rather than having to spend all those extra hours at the office, navigating in the ins and outs of social media and the digital market space. I love the idea that what we do here at The Marketing Girl enables our business partners and colleagues to discover their own work-life balance, and to reconnect with their families in a similar manner – just the thought brings a happy and satisfied smile to my face!

Here at The Marketing Girl, the future’s looking very bright, indeed. I’m so proud to be a brand-new mom all over again, and I couldn’t be happier to work with so many fantastic clients and partners who have made it easy for me to enjoy spending time with my family in the wake of our newest little addition. We can’t wait to plot out our next steps as we make our way steadily towards snowier weather and the holidays. Next year’s already shaping up to be an exciting one – stay tuned for all the details in the coming weeks and months ahead!
